Dear Haddonfield Neighbor,
You are invited to join us during the centennial celebration of the Haddonfield Civic Association (“HCA”). For 100 years, members and donors have enabled the HCA to continue its mission to “Inform, Promote and Organize Civic Discussion” in Haddonfield. Since 1911, the HCA has and continues to provide valuable resources for Haddonfield residents to become informed about important issues affecting our community. Your membership supports numerous benefits to the Haddonfield community including:
NEW! Online video and archives of Borough meetings, BOE meetings, and events. The Haddonfield Civic Association provides video coverage of ALL Commissioners meetings AND Board of Education meetings. The public may see the issues being debated on their schedule on their computer through the HCA website, at http://haddonfieldcivic.com/. The HCA will continue to record, upload and archive civic meetings, land use meetings regarding major properties, dinners, and events with plans to include human-interest activities such as local parades and ceremonies.
This valuable groundbreaking initiative brings your government and your community right into your home to be viewed by you selectively on YOUR schedule. Each year the HCA sponsors informational meetings on topics of current interest, such as libraries in the 21st century and school funding. The HCA also supports the Haddonfield Municipal Alliance which seeks to raise awareness of substance abuse.
As we celebrate our 100th year in 2011, we need your support as a member to offer these programs as well as:
- The Town Meeting, during which the Borough Commissioners, various department and commission heads answer questions from residents (held during the third week of October).
- The Town Dinner, scheduled for April 28, 2011, at Tavistock Country Club. The event will have a big name keynote speaker and will honor the winner(s) of the Alfred E. Driscoll Award for outstanding civic contributions. In addition, the finalists for the Robert Bradshaw student essay contest and the winner of the Harry S. Kaufmann Award for the performing arts are announced.
- Include Haddonfield students in our activities as much as possible in order to provide civic educational opportunities
We cannot continue these exciting new programs without you! Please take a minute to become a member by returning the enclosed envelope or join online. You can also and offer your suggestions or comments regarding programs or future initiatives through our website. Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bill Tourtellotte Shelly Castorino
President Membership Chair
