2011 Haddonfield Civic Association Town Meeting

This annual meeting brings in one place the commissioners and the heads of all major departments and commissions for an open dialogue with the residents of Haddonfield. Topics included road projects, crime, finances and of course Bancroft.
We had the mic fail for about 40 seconds near the very beginning. We fixed and the rest of the video is fine Missed was the introduction of Susan Briant of the Library and that our Girls HS tennis team won a state championship .

2011 Camden County Freeholders Candidate Debate

The 2011 Camden County Freeholders Candidate Forum was held on October 12th in Haddonfield. It was sponsored by the Civic Association and the League of Women Voters.

Camden County Freeholders Candidates’ Forum October 12th

The Haddonfield Civic Association (HCA) will sponsor the Camden County Freeholders Candidates’ Forum on Wednesday, October 12, at 7:00pm in the Haddonfield Middle School Auditorium, at 5 Lincoln Avenue, Haddonfield, NJ.   Moderated by the League of Women Voters, this 90-minute forum offers all Camden County Freeholder candidates an opportunity to speak and to answer residents’ questions about issues faced by Camden County today.  All county residents are invited to attend.

Election Day is November 8.  As of September 15 deadline, five candidates have filed petitions to run for the two open seats: Louis Cappelli, Jr. (D), Ian Gill (Ind.), Eugene E. T. Lawrence (R), Scot N. McCray (D) and Joshua Rocks (R).    Mr. Capelli and Mr. McCray are current Freeholders.

The HCA regularly hosts and videotapes forums on issues critical to Haddonfield’s future, as well as promoting civic engagement in the Borough’s schools and throughout the town.  On October 20, at Haddonfield Borough Hall, the HCA will host its annual Town Meeting, an opportunity to meet and question our Borough Commissioners, Committee chairs and senior Borough staff.  Visit the HCA website: www.haddonfieldcivic.org for further information on the HCA and its activities.

2011 Annual Town Meeting

Regional Police Force, Traffic, the Library, Bancroft, Road Construction . . .

Have a few questions that you want to ask the Commissioners, other municipal officials or the chairs of the various municipal commissions and boards? Then join us and your fellow Haddonfield residents on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Boro Hall Auditorium for the Annual Town Meeting, hosted by the Haddonfield Civic Association. Former mayor Gene Kain will moderate. Brief reports will be presented by the Commissioners. The floor will then be open for questions from Haddonfield residents. Everyone will get a turn at the microphone!

The Annual Town Meeting is just one aspect of the HCA’s mission to “Inform, Promote and Organize Civic Discussion.” The HCA also organizes single-issue town forums focused on current Haddonfield hot topics. Lastly, it videotapes all Commissioners’ and BOE meetings, as well as special meetings of interest, and posts them on the HCA website (www.haddonfieldcivic.com). All residents of Haddonfield can use this free, valuable resource to become informed about the important issues of the day.
You can count on the HCA to continue its work for the benefit of Haddonfield – just like it has been doing for the past 100 years. Join us or make a donation on our website today!

In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”

Evans Pond: A Long-Term Study of a Single Place

In performing a summer cleanout of the old files, we came across this presentation by Deborah Garwood that was filmed back in December 2009. This was a fascinating project and not only for the beautiful pictures of Evans Pond, but also of the various camera technologies both old and modern used in this photo essay.
